A New Day, Devotional #2

Rain trickles down from the clouds, the morning dew caresses the flowers each morning, and the joyous birds chirping are our new wake up call. By the afternoon the sun warms your skin as it kisses your cheek, a nearby lavender bush tickles your nose with a sweet scent and with a smile on your face and cup of coffee in your hand, you think “awe…spring.” When I think of spring, I think of renewal, new life, and fresh starts. Spring is notorious for new beginnings.

” For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” -Song of Solomon 2:11-12

As Lucy Maud Montgomery writes in her novel, Anne of Green Gables, “Everyday is a new day without any mistakes in it yet.” Each day God gives us is a beautiful gift. A second chance. A new day to start over. Why wait for New year’s to be the best you can be, when each day is a chance to once again hit the “reset button” at the same time your hitting snooze 🙂 LOL.

Each new day, every breath, every heartbeat is a gift from God. If we wake up the next morning he still has a purpose for us here on this earth. Let us not let a single moment go to waste!

As we go about this next week, help us to remember you have a plan for each of us. Help us be thankful for each day. For the birds that sing. For the rain. Creation shouts your glory. Help us to do the same as we go about our daily lives. If there may be anything tugging at our hearts Lord, help us to put it in your hands. Help us to surrender to you each day and put you first in all we do.

In Jesus name,
